Pink Disaster
“Hey, I’ve got good news. We will have our classes repainted! Isn’t that great?” I delivered the news excitedly.
“Really? What a piece of wonderful news! What color will they be?” Ms. Maria, my friend and my colleague, reacted enthusiastically to the news. She literally stopped typing her lesson plan, turned her large black eyes away from the monitor, and cast them at me. Whenever she was excited, she would show the wide cheerful smile that almost covered all of her round face framed by her short black hair.
“Mine will be green, and yours will be pink. That’s what I heard,” I replied.
“Wait… a.. minute…! Did you say pink?” The enthusiasm evaporated. She said the words extremely slowly as if she wanted to make sure that we digested each and every word well.
“Yes, I did,” I replied almost as slowly as she did when raising the question.
“WHAT!!! They can’t make me teach in a pink class. You know how much I loathe the color. Isn’t there anything we can do to stop this?” The only reply I can make was shrugging my shoulders.
“Well, the boss once asked me about what color they should choose for the classes. Yet, since I am not a good artist, I suggested them to ask Pak Ari instead. We all now how brilliant he is in designing rooms. Hence, I suppose that Pak Ari suggested the color,” I tried to explain a minute later.
“Come on! Teaching in a pink class won’t kill you, will it? It is only a matter of color. You are a great teacher, and a great teacher can teach in any room with any color,” I continued.
There was a quite long pause after I uttered my sentences; long enough to observe my dearest friend sitting before me. This lady is only a few months older than me. Oops… did I say “lady”? Well, she definitely detested that word. She was a tomboy girl; the type of girls who never wore skirts, dresses nor make up; let alone high heel shoes. After more than two years working together, I could say that she loved black, her hobby was speeding with her red motorcycle, and she definitely hated pink. The pause gave me some time to learn over those facts and tried to understand her feeling.
We did not talk about that matter for the rest of the day, and even a few days after that. I even thought that she had forgotten it, but I was wrong. Several days after my ‘notification’ about the repainting, she mentioned about it during our lunch.
“After all, I think LORD loves giving surprises in my life. Every time I hate some thing, HE always gives it to me. I used to hate teaching when I was in the university, and HE made me a teacher. I did not want to teach in the Sunday school, and HE let me teach there. Through it all, I learned that HE always makes me love to do HIS will. And now, I hate pink, and HE makes me teach in a pink class. You were right, it may hurt me a bit, but it won’t kill me. Anyway, HE knows what the best is for me.”
I smiled. My dearest friend finally understood HIS will. I watched her face closely, and I thought that I had to learn a lot from her

I didn't want to live in Bali, but now I am here (and love it).
@ria: comfort zone
The point is...
Most of the time we prefer to stay in that cozy comfort zone, and unconsiously set that high fences that prevent us to go beyond the zone. Our BELOVED LORD, however, always wants us to grow. Living in the comfort zone surely hinders the growth. Thus, HE forces us to break the comfort zone sometimes. Well, I am gratefull he does so though sometimes it does really hurt me so :P

@rahseto: when I did not get what I really wanted
Once, I really wanted something in my life. At that time I thought I had done all I could to get it. Many people said I deserved to get it. I myself also believed that I deserved it.
Yet, HIS answer to my little plan was a big NO. I was extremely disapointed at that time. Yet, I finally realized that at that time I only counted on my own power. I forgot that HE IS always in charge of everything in my life.
It is when I don't get what I want in my life that I learn the most about this life-- about the ultimate need to surrender and count on HIM only. HE gives us what we need; not what we want.
Now, I thank GOD I did not get what I wanted at that time.

Dear Nita, Please do not
Dear Nita,
Please do not generalise this statement
"HE gives us what we need; not what we want"
Still there are things that we do not need it but we want it and HE needs (not to mean that HE rely/sdepends on us) us to want it.
For example, you are good in something. Let's say building a bussiness or making money ethically. You might not need millions of dollars. For you, having a house, car and living a moderates lifestyle is just satifying. And that's all you need. But is it possible that God still can wanting you to use your skill to do something to generate money for HIS purpose? It might not be for the churches but may be for the neglected/needy people? Still possible right?
Nothig wrong if you strive something for yourself as long as you give HIS due. We should not left something unfinished something that we really want just because something hindering us. Especially when it almost touching the line.
Pink is beautiful. It is not my color but without it this world will never be brighter. Hardship and anything that people think imperfect or ugly make this life beautiful. Believe me without this imperfectness your life would be boring. Why we laugh at something? one of the reason is because we see something or listen something different from perfect.

Dear Sahabat, As I read
Dear Sahabat,
As I read through your comment, I learn that we share a common view on the concept of 'perfect.' I strongly agree that imperfection does make this life even far better than perfect.
I believe that HE created us for a reason. A reason that must be very beautiful though sometimes we often fail to see the reason. It is the failure to see our life as a part of the big master plan of HIS that became the central point of this blog. In my opinion, it is the failure that hinders us to finish, or even simply start doing the tasks given to us. When we do HIS will, it is not a merely a 'want'. It is a 'need' -- even the most esential one.
I have just lived for twenty five years, but I have learned that HE loves surprises that sometimes ruin my own seemingly well and systematic plan.HE often makes me turn around --leaving me with tousands of whys....
But, still HE knows the best for me that is doing HIS will. It's all that I need.
